Is impotence a natural phenomenon?

Potency disorders are an increasingly frequent phenomenon to the suffering of those affected and to the joy of the pharma-industry

However, what is behind the increasing number of sexual dysfunction, it is a process of aging or is it socio-cultural,  caused by our society and living conditions. Comparative qualitative data on the experiences of men and their sexual partners with sexuality and aging all over the world show, that not all accept the narrow ideals of male sexuality that lead to the medical discussion about male impotence. The diversity of sexual desires and experiences during their lifetimes and their responses to sexual function are dependent on the culture and medical definitions of sexual dysfunction. In a society prescribed for the pressure of power and eternal youth, impotence is much more present and a suffering. Unfortunately, it is still a silent suffering because it is associated with the shame of failure. Erectile dysfunction can have many causes, physical or mental.

Hope for quick help, Viagra, and Co.

Some men want the problem, by treating the symptoms with medication. However, after the use of potency pills, many people report that they “work” and “he” is doing his job, but it is not fulfilling and satisfying. It just functions, like so much what the pharma does, like eating without taste. It is therefore quite useful and important to know the causes and to eliminate them permanently.

An erectile dysfunction is the man’s inability to achieve or maintain an erection sufficient for sexual intercourse although there is sexual arousal. This has to be taken seriously since basic illnesses can be present and the psychological pressure is enormously high. Pressure and failure can lead to a vicious circle of fear and failure. The social and psychological consequences can be far-reaching. Partnership problems and depression can occur and lead to divorce and social isolation. Here “man” should act early and seek help.

The psyche as the cause

Many men experience stress and psychological issues without seeking help or advice or even professional help.As a result, the situation intensifies and unnecessary quiet suffering arises. Misunderstandings in the partnership, blame rejections.

Organic causes are manifold

Potency disorders can not only be the result of organic diseases such as cardiovascular disease or diabetes, they can even be a sign of such a disease and thus a valuable way to eliminate not only the impotence but also the serious underlying disease early, even save lives. Also, medicines can cause impotence, especially certain heart medications and psychopharmaceuticals. Oxidative stress and deficiency of certain vital substances were also investigated as a factor in studies and confirmed.

What´s the secret message of the impotence?

As indicated above, let us assume that a man with potency disturbances is injured and weakened in his foundations, his ability to create and creativity. An essential aspect of his personality was taken from him. Often, those men work too much and too hard and neglect themselves to find respect and recognition on the outside. Here it is needed to look and to heal, strengthen and overcome, instead of denying, concealing and anxiety. The will alone can not do it, or to quote Rüdiger Dahlke: “The principle of the masculine is to make, to draw, and to realize. The male is active and thus also aggressive. Potency is expression and symbol of power, impotency is impotence. The various circle begins when he tries to reach potency through volition and through effort. The higher the pressure and force, the more hopeless any erection is “

Medicine:

Basic diseases must be treated as a cause. Caused drugs detected and replaced if possible. Hormonal disorders must be recognized and treated.

Medications:

For the symptomatic treatment, there are a whole series of medications which act only for a few hours and stimulate the circulation of the corpus cavernosum. It comes to a functional erection.

What are the options in alternative medicine?  :

Yoga: pelvic floor strengthening and lifestyle changes can improve erectile function and sexual quality. Meditation and breathing exercises help to reduce stress and performance pressure.

L-arginine
This amino acid supports sexual function by initiating the smooth muscle relaxation required for sexual arousal.
L-arginine can also be useful in erectile dysfunction. A study confirmed that from male subjects without confirmed erectile dysfunction who received 1.7 grams of L-arginine daily for three months together with increasing doses of pyknogenol (an antioxidant derived from the bark of French sea-pine with the Latin name Pinus pinaster) 92 percent had a normal erection again. Arginine is an amino acid which contains, for example, in high concentration in hemp protein. Be careful with herpes infections, this amino acid can have a negative effect!

Saffron: In one study the effect of Crocus sativus (saffron) on male erectile dysfunction was investigated. Twenty male patients with ED were observed for ten days, each morning taking a tablet of 200 mg saffron. After the ten days of taking saffron, there was a statistically significant improvement in peak stiffness and tip tumescence as well as the basic stiffness and base tumescence. Saffron showed a positive effect on sexual function with increased number and duration of erectile events in patients after just ten days of ingestion.

Yohimbe: Pausinystalia Yohimbe of the family Rubiaceae is an evergreen tree native to West Africa, also  Asia. It is the only herb that is listed in the medical index reference for sexual function. Yohimbe has been used as an accepted treatment for male potency disorders for more than 75 years. In the late 1980s and was called the “Herbal Viagra” in the February 1999 issue of Environmental Nutrition in Europe. Yohimbe is probably effective because of its ability to stimulate the blood flow through the dilation of the blood vessels. The increase in blood flow to the penis helps the erections. Another way in which Yohimbe effects impotence is the body-specific production of norepinephrine, which increases erectile dysfunction. Studies have shown that Yohimbe can even help diabetics and cardiac patients suffering from impotence because of their diseases. However, Yohimbe is not without side-effects, it increases blood pressure and heart rate, and can lead to dizziness.

Juckbee: In this plant, L-Dopa was detected in extracts. The plant extract of M. pruriens seed can be interesting for therapy especially in patients with metabolic disorders such as diabetes. The effect of the extract could be due to catechin and its derivatives and polyphenols.

Chlorophytum borivilianum: Tuberous roots of Chlorophytum borivilianum (CB) (commonly known as Safed Musli) (Liliaceae family) possess immunomodulatory and adaptogenic properties and are used to heal impotence, sterility, and enhancement of male potency. Mayank et al. Investigated the effect of lyophilized aqueous extracts from the roots of C. borivilianum, on sexual behavior in male albino. They observed a significant change in the sexual behavior of animals. The observed effects appear due to the testosterone-like effects of the extracts. There are also studies suggesting that the roots of CB can be useful for the treatment of certain forms of sexual inadequacies, such as premature ejaculation and oligospermia.

Kaempferia parviflora: Kaempferia parviflora belongs to the family Zingiberaceae is a native plant from Southeast Asia, which is traditionally used to improve male sexual function. However, few scientific data have been reported to support these anecdotes. However, administration of the alcohol extract had the significant effect on erection. In contrast, water extracts did not affect any sexual behavioral parameters. It has no effect on fertility or sperm motility. On the other hand, the alcohol extract results in a significant increase in blood flow to the testes without affecting heart rate and mean arterial blood pressure.

Eurycoma longifolia: Eurycoma longifolia (commonly referred to as Tongkat Ali or pasak bumi) is a flowering plant in the family Simaroubaceae, native to Indonesia, Malaysia, and to a lesser extent Thailand, Vietnam and Laos. The results of studies support the traditional use of this plant as an aphrodisiac.

Satureja khuzestanica: Satureja khuzestanica Jamzad belongs to the family Lamiaceae is a plant widely distributed in the southern part of Iran. Studies with the essential oil (SKEO) in the plant in rats showed significantly improved parameters such as potency, fertility, fertility index and litter size. There was also an improvement in sperm quality, spermatogenesis and fertility, toxic stress and DNA damage. Also, the weights of testes, seminal vesicles, and ventral prostate weights were increased by SKEO.

Maca: Lepidium meyenii (Maca) is a cultivated root belonging to the brassica family, which is used in the Andean region for its alleged aphrodisiac properties. A clinical double blind study in 50 Caucasian men with mild erectile dysfunction showed a small but significant effect of Maca supplementation on the subjective perception of general and sexual well-being. Treatment with Maca dry extract was done in this study for 12 weeks with daily 2400 mg. Serum testosterone and estradiol levels were not deviating.

Muscat: The dried core of largely egg-shaped seeds of Myristica fragrans Houtt. One study found that administration of 50% ethanolic extract from a single dose of nutmeg, clove and Penegra resulted in an increase in mating performance in mice.

Date palm: Phoenix dactylifera (date palm) of the family Palmae comes from North Africa was cultivated mainly in Arabia and Persian Gulf. The date Palm Pollen (DPP) is used in traditional medicine for male infertility. In an experimental study the effect of the pollen, on sperm parameters and reproductive system of adult male rats was investigated. The use of DPP suspensions was observed to improve the sperm count, motility, morphology, and DNA quality with a simultaneous increase in the weights of testes and spleen. The date palm contains estradiol and flavonoid components, which have a positive effect on sperm quality.

Damiana of the family Turneraceae is considered an aphrodisiac. A study of sexually exhausted male rats showed a significantly increased percentage of males achieving ejaculation and resuming a second. In addition, T. diffuse significantly reduced the recovery time after ejaculation. The analysis showed caffeine, arbutin, and flavonoids as main compounds in the active extract. The results confirm the use of Damiana as an aphrodisiac in traditional medicine and open possible therapeutic interventions for sexual dysfunction.

Ginseng: Panax ginseng For many years, Panax ginseng from the family Araliaceae was known as one of the finest aphrodisiacs in the world. In fact, the word Panax means “complete healing” in Greek and is thus a reference to the roots that revitalize the whole human body.

This enumeration is by no means exhaustive or complete.

Sexuality and personal development/aging

The intensity and nature of partnership and sex change with the development process and natural aging. Each of these changes is to be accepted, indeed to be enjoyed, and not to be compelled to maintain past performance under pressure. It is brave to discover and allow new ways. It is this courage, this authenticity, which is sexy, no matter what age. Men with charisma stand don´t disregard themselves for every gray hair,  they appreciate their life experience, which is always manifold, also in the area of sex. It’s not just about chasing orgasms.
